Dan Draper
Group Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of AXIS Re
Dan Draper is Group Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of AXIS Re. Prior to his appointment as Group CUO in 2022, he had previously served for more than two years as Group Head of Underwriting at AXIS. Prior to that, he had been Group Chief Risk and Actuarial Officer at VIBE. Before joining VIBE, Dan spent eight years with AXIS, holding a number of leadership roles that included Group Chief Actuary, Chief Risk Analytics Officer, and Insurance Segment Chief Risk Officer. Before that, he held managerial positions at the Financial Services Authority, XL Capital, and Ernst & Young. Dan received a Masters in Engineering from the University of Bath and is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
Lauren Kent
Head of Global Casualty and Specialty
Lauren Kent is Head of Global Casualty and Specialty for AXIS Re. Based in Zurich, Lauren is responsible for leading the global casualty and specialty portfolios of AXIS Re and shaping its strategy in alignment with the strategic priorities of the global Reinsurance business and the broader AXIS enterprise. She joined AXIS Re in January 2024 as President, International.
Prior to joining AXIS Re, Lauren was Senior Vice President, International Casualty Manager at Chubb Tempest Re in Zurich. She has also held positions at companies including Endurance Specialty Limited, Endurance Worldwide Limited, GE Employers Reinsurance Corporation and Zurich Reinsurance. She brings more than 25 years of experience in reinsurance spanning the London, European and US markets with expertise extending across multiple specialist lines of business.
Michael Silas
Head of Global Credit Reinsurance
Based in London, Michael Silas is Head of Global Credit Reinsurance at AXIS. Prior to his current role, Michael served as an Executive Vice President and Head of Capital Risk Solutions for AXIS Insurance since 2017. Michael led AXIS' proposition for commercial banks, multilateral agencies and export credit agencies, with a focus on loan non-payment coverage of project finance, aircraft finance and structured credit. Michael joined AXIS in Bermuda as a Vice President and Credit & Political Risk Underwriter in 2007, before taking his role as Senior Vice President in February 2012. Prior to AXIS, Michael spent 13 years at a major insurance broker in New York, Singapore, London and Amsterdam, rising to Senior Vice President specializing in credit and political risk brokering for financial institutions.
Jay Hamilton
Global Head of A&H Insurance and Reinsurance
James “Jay” Hamilton is the Global Head of Accident & Health Insurance and Reinsurance at AXIS, where he has led the division’s growth and success since its launch in 2013. Under his leadership, the business has expanded its global presence and consistently delivered strong, profitable performance. Jay is known for his strategic vision and ability to drive sustainable growth through innovative product development and market expansion.
Throughout his career, Jay has been actively involved in all facets of the business—including claims, compliance, marketing, product development, technology, reinsurance, sales, and underwriting—giving him a well-rounded perspective on the insurance and reinsurance landscape. His ability to connect these functions into a unified strategy has been key to building a high-performing, client-focused organization.
